QF-MU join forces
Qantas and China Eastern announced a new joint venture late last year which will strengthen links between Australia and China. Through the partnership, the airlines hope to open new routes between Australia and mainland China. A major benefit of the agreement will be the co-location of both carriers at Shanghai International Airport Terminal 1 which will cut transit times by about one hour and open up a wider range of onward connections. Subject to regulatory approval, the agreement is expected to kick off in mid 2015.
