Hayman’s grand reopening

The Whitsundays region has a fresh jewel in its crown, with Hayman Island by Intercontinental now open following a $135 million refurbishment. The property, which had operated under the One&only brand until it was severely damaged by Cyclone Debbie in March last year, is now managed by Intercontinental Hotels Group.

Guests can arrive at the 166-room private resort via a luxury catamaran, helicopter or seaplane.

Three wings of guest rooms, suites and villas hug the pristine coastline of the island, with the resort boating a new Three Bedroom Hayman Beach House, fronting Hayman Beach and stretching across 400m².

Each of the three suites has their own plunge pool, master ensuite and over-sized bathtub with the social spaces offering an open plan dining and living room, alfresco entertaining, private sun loungers and unobstructed beach access.

Hayman Island by Intercontinental has introduced five distinct restaurants and bars, including the 1950s-inspired Bar Fifty, which serves “classic cocktails with a Hayman twist” and Bam Bam, serving bold and zesty pan-asian cuisine.

The property also offers The Planet Trekkers kids’ club, the Hayman Spa and the chance to take part in diving excursions to the Great Barrier Reef or guided tropical hikes across the island.
