Eclipse welcomed in style

The lavish christening ceremony laid on for Discovery Yacht Scenic Eclipse in New York last month was almost fit for a queen, with esteemed actress Helen Mirren heading up the event as the ship’s godmother.

The official naming ceremony was attended by more than 350 VIPS who watched as Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours’ latest pride and joy was formally christened by Mirren, who broke the ceremonial bottle of champagne against her hull.

“It was an honour to welcome Helen… on board and to share our vision and passion which together with the dedication and talent of the Scenic team has created an experience which has set a brand new benchmark in discovery cruising,” said the company’s Chairman and Glen Moroney.
