Cruise sector gets behind bushfire relief
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has reinforced the role of the cruise industry in aiding bushfire recovery, as support from cruise lines around the world poured in.
“Cruise lines have made clear they want to return to these ports as soon as possible to help support local businesses and assist in their recovery,” said CLIA Australasia Managing Director Joel Katz. The sentiments were backed up by Australian Cruise Association Chief Executive Office, Jill Abel, who highlighted fire-affected areas such as Eden, NSW and Kangaroo Island, SA, expressing the need for cruise ships to continue visiting. Carnival Corporation Chairman
Micky Arison led philanthropic efforts, pledging $1.5 million to a range of bushfire relief organisations.
