South snow-ready

NEW Zealand’s South Is­land is ready for the win­ter sea­son, with snow mak­ing guns al­ready in full swing after tem­per­a­tures dropped to -5 de­grees this week.

The Snow­max sys­tem at Coronet Peak will in­crease snow ca­pac­ity by up to 20%, to en­sure it opens ear­lier in the sea­son.

Snow has al­ready started fall­ing at Mt Hutt, which will be the first ski field to open in New Zealand on 09 Jun.
