Borghetti to leave avi­a­tion af­ter 45 yrs

VIRGIN Aus­tralia ceo John Borghetti has “had his fill of air­lines,” and is likely to find a role out­side of the avi­a­tion sec­tor when he leaves VA next year.

Speak­ing on the side­lines of the CAPA Cen­tre for Avi­a­tion con­fer­ence in Syd­ney yes­ter­day, Borghetti said he’d had a num­ber of ap­proaches af­ter an­nounc­ing his de­par­ture from the car­rier at the end of 2019 ( TD 12 Jun).

“Right now I don’t want to think about it, be­cause I’ve still got work to do here,” he said.

He also said Virgin had writ­ten to the Aus­tralian Com­pe­ti­tion and Con­sumer Com­mis­sion rais­ing is­sues about the tie-up be­tween for­mer al­liance part­ner Air NZ and Qan­tas ( TD 01 Jun).

He told del­e­gates a par­tic­u­lar is­sue was the QF code be­ing placed on Air NZ do­mes­tic flights de­spite Jet­star also hav­ing a New Zealand do­mes­tic op­er­a­tion.
