A DIG­I­TAL cur­rency pay­ment plat­form for the travel and tourism in­dus­try has been cho­sen as one of 70 busi­nesses re­ceiv­ing more than $8.3 mil­lion in in­no­va­tion grants from the Queens­land Gov­ern­ment.

Start-up Trav­el­byBit has en­listed more than 150 mer­chants to utilise its sys­tem, aimed at trav­ellers us­ing crypto cur­ren­cies like Bit­coin, Lite­coin and Dash.

It will re­ceive $100,000 in fund­ing un­der the govt scheme.

“We have part­nered with Bris­bane Air­port Cor­po­ra­tion to launch the world’s first dig­i­tal cur­rency friendly air­port and have in­te­grated our cut­ting edge blockchain pow­ered point-of- sale sys­tem across the re­gional tourism towns of 1770 and Agnes Wa­ter,” said Trav­el­byBit co founder and ceo Caleb Yeoh.
