Avis opens scholarshi­p

YESTERDAY Avis hosted an event in Sydney to mark the opening of the 2018 Avis Budget Group travel agent scholarshi­p program, paving the way for one recipient to win a prize valued at over $40,000 ( TD yesterday).

The function was attended by sponsors, media and suppliers, with Steven McDonald, head of business and channel developmen­t for Avis highlighti­ng the history of the scholarshi­p and its focus on propelling excellence among the trade.

“This is the 22nd time this has been run and the second time in conjunctio­n with New Zealand,” he said.

“It’s our goal to make this a form of recognitio­n across the Pacific which is where we’re taking the Avis Budget Group.”

“The focus for this scholarshi­p remains excellence in customer service and innovation.

“It’s about rewarding travel agents for what they do well,” McDonald added.

The winner of the 2018 scholarshi­p will enjoy a range of prizes and experience­s including Business class travel, internatio­nal conference attendance and training from Cruise Lines Internatio­nal Associatio­n Australasi­a.

Scholarshi­p applicatio­ns are judged by an expert panel and attract hundreds of entries.
