Avis opens schol­ar­ship

YES­TER­DAY Avis hosted an event in Syd­ney to mark the open­ing of the 2018 Avis Bud­get Group travel agent schol­ar­ship pro­gram, pav­ing the way for one re­cip­i­ent to win a prize val­ued at over $40,000 ( TD yes­ter­day).

The func­tion was at­tended by spon­sors, me­dia and sup­pli­ers, with Steven McDon­ald, head of business and chan­nel devel­op­ment for Avis high­light­ing the history of the schol­ar­ship and its fo­cus on pro­pel­ling ex­cel­lence among the trade.

“This is the 22nd time this has been run and the sec­ond time in con­junc­tion with New Zealand,” he said.

“It’s our goal to make this a form of recog­ni­tion across the Pa­cific which is where we’re tak­ing the Avis Bud­get Group.”

“The fo­cus for this schol­ar­ship re­mains ex­cel­lence in cus­tomer ser­vice and innovation.

“It’s about re­ward­ing travel agents for what they do well,” McDon­ald added.

The win­ner of the 2018 schol­ar­ship will en­joy a range of prizes and ex­pe­ri­ences in­clud­ing Business class travel, in­ter­na­tional con­fer­ence at­ten­dance and train­ing from Cruise Lines In­ter­na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion Aus­trala­sia.

Schol­ar­ship ap­pli­ca­tions are judged by an ex­pert panel and at­tract hun­dreds of en­tries.
