Hawaii de­fies Ki­lauea

HAWAII’S vis­i­tor sta­tis­tics for Jul 2018 were at an all time high de­spite the Ki­lauea vol­cano erup­tion, ac­cord­ing to re­sults re­leased by Hawaii Tourism Author­ity (HTA).

HTA pres­i­dent and ceo Ge­orge Szigeti said the in­dus­try statewide had es­tab­lished “new record high monthly to­tals of 939,360 vis­i­tor ar­rivals and 1.2m air seats serv­ing the state on trans-Pa­cific flights”.

Year-to-date, Hawaii reached nearly US$11 bil­lion in vis­i­tor spend­ing and al­most six mil­lion visi­tors, both ahead of the same period last year.
