Int’l traf­fic up in Oct

THE num­ber of in­ter­na­tional air pas­sen­gers pass­ing through Aus­tralian air­ports in­creased by 5.3% in Oct when com­pared to the pre­vi­ous cor­re­spond­ing pe­riod, ac­cord­ing to the lat­est fig­ures com­piled by The Bureau of In­fra­struc­ture, Trans­port and Re­gional Eco­nom­ics (BITRE).

Aus­tralian air­ports re­ceived 3.547 mil­lion in­ter­na­tional pax dur­ing Oct, with 3.370 mil­lion pas­sen­gers clocked in 2017.

The busiest route in the pe­riod was Syd­ney to Auck­land, notch­ing up 137,498 pax and ac­count­ing for 3.9% of to­tal traf­fic.

Qan­tas in­creased its in­ter­na­tional pas­sen­ger load by one per­cent­age point to carry 17.8% of to­tal traf­fic, while Jet­star claimed sec­ond spot car­ry­ing 8.7% of Oct’s traf­fic.

Syd­ney Air­port was the busiest hub, record­ing 40.5% of int’l pax.
