Ac­cor Race to Sur­vive

MORE than 280 Ac­cor team mem­bers from across Aus­tralia and NZ gath­ered on the Gold Coast last week to par­tic­i­pate in the “Race to Sur­vive” chal­lenge.

The four-day bi-an­nual ad­ven­ture chal­lenge is the hos­pi­tal­ity group’s flag­ship char­ity event, which to date has raised $530,000 for the Ac­cor Com­mu­nity Fund.

The funds go to­wards Ac­cor’s com­mu­nity part­ners, Kokoda Youth Foun­da­tion, Gar­van In­sti­tute of Med­i­cal Re­search, Life­line, the Aus­tralian Child­hood Foun­da­tion and AIME Men­tor­ing.

This year’s chal­lenge set off from the Gold Coast Hin­ter­land and con­cluded at Surfers Par­adise Beach, af­ter par­tic­i­pants pushed them­selves to com­plete a range of ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing a 28km Kokoda trail hike and a 9km 50-ob­sta­cle course in the Nu­min­bah Val­ley.

“Ear­lier this year we set a goal to raise one mil­lion dol­lars...and, through fundrais­ing events, we aim to raise this by the end of 2019,” said Si­mon McGrath, CEO Ac­cor Pa­cific.
