AIR New Zealand is pre­par­ing for its busiest day of the year as hol­i­day­mak­ers in New Zealand and across the globe set off on their Christ­mas break to­mor­row.

The air­line is an­tic­i­pat­ing more than 60,000 cus­tomers on more than 600 flights across its net­work - which is 20,000 more com­pared to the car­rier’s busiest day last year - with Auck­land Christchur­ch the most pop­u­lar route.

Air New Zealand Gen­eral Man­ager Auck­land Air­ports Todd Grace ad­vised trav­ellers to al­low ad­di­tional time and be “as pa­tient as pos­si­ble” to­wards staff.

MEAN­WHILE, the air­line has hired 120 can­di­dates from more than 1,800 ap­pli­cants for its tem­po­rary cabin crew roles to fly across the peak sum­mer pe­riod (TD 19 Jul).

The sum­mer cabin crew group will be op­er­at­ing the air­line’s Boe­ing 777-300 and 777-200 air­craft from Dec-Mar across the peak sum­mer pe­riod.
