THE St Lu­cia Gov­ern­ment will in­tro­duce a tourist ac­com­mo­da­tion fee ef­fec­tive from 01 Apr, with all ac­com­mo­da­tion providers on the is­land re­quired to col­lect the charge from guests.

The money will be used by the St Lu­cia Tourism Author­ity to fund des­ti­na­tion mar­ket­ing ac­tiv­i­ties and vil­lage tourism de­vel­op­ment.

The fee will be US$3 for a nightly rate of less than US$120, ris­ing to US$6 above this level.

Guests who book their ac­com­mo­da­tion through shar­ing plat­forms such as Airbnb and VRBO will be re­quired to pay an ac­com­mo­da­tion fee of 7% on the to­tal cost of stay.
