MSC fleet ex­pands

MSC Cruises’ part­ner­ship with Chantiers de l’At­lan­tique has been ex­tended to 2030, with the ship­yard to con­struct a third and fourth ship pow­ered by liq­ue­fied nat­u­ral gas (LNG) for the cruise line’s World Class.

The part­ner­ship will also fo­cus on the de­vel­op­ment and util­i­sa­tion of next-gen­er­a­tion en­vi­ron­men­tal tech­nol­ogy, with the two new­builds to be de­liv­ered in 2025 and 2027.

Signed yes­ter­day, two mem­o­randa of un­der­stand­ing be­tween the two par­ties will also see the de­vel­op­ment of a new pro­to­type class of four LNG-pow­ered cruise ships, and another class which will ex­plore wind power and other tech­nol­ogy.
