IATA Rail deal

THE In­ter­na­tional Air Trans­port As­so­ci­a­tion (IATA) has signed a Mem­o­ran­dum of Un­der­stand­ing (MoU) with the In­ter­na­tional Union of Rail­ways (UIC).

The deal will see the pair strengthen their co­op­er­a­tion in stan­dard set­ting and in­ter­op­er­abil­ity ini­tia­tives, with a fo­cus on data ex­change stan­dards sup­port­ing in­ter­modal travel.

The MoU will fa­cil­i­tate di­a­logue and co­op­er­a­tion around stan­dards and in­ter­op­er­abil­ity in ar­eas such as check-in and val­i­da­tion con­trol, jour­ney plan­ning and shop­ping, in­dus­try cod­ing, tick­et­ing, and ac­count­ing and set­tle­ment.
