Sun ar­rives in rain

HO­BART wel­comed Viking Cruises’ Viking Sun to­day, host­ing the ship on day 160 of her 245day Ul­ti­mate World Cruise.

The Tas­ma­nian port is the first of seven Aus­tralian des­ti­na­tions Viking Sun will visit on the itin­er­ary, which the line is hop­ing will set the Guin­ness World Record for the “long­est con­tin­u­ous pas­sen­ger cruise”.

There are only 56 pas­sen­gers of the 930 guests on board who will jour­ney the en­tire 245 days, while oth­ers will travel on dif­fer­ent halves of the itin­er­ary, swap­ping over in Los Angeles.

Viking Sun will call in at Syd­ney, Bris­bane, The Whit­sun­days, Cairns, Thurs­day Is­land and Dar­win in her Aus­tralian leg of the mam­moth jour­ney, be­fore sail­ing on through Asia.
