AFTA’s na­tional road­show

THE Aus­tralian Fed­er­a­tion of Travel Agents (AFTA) will em­bark on a na­tional road­show in Mar and Apr to dis­cuss “the most per­ti­nent is­sues af­fect­ing travel busi­ness from across the travel value chain”.

Events will be held in Mel­bourne, Ade­laide, Perth, Sydney CBD, Greater Sydney (Par­ra­matta) and Brisbane, with mem­bers and key in­dus­try part­ners in­vited to at­tend.

AFTA Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Jayson West­bury said the work­shops will dis­cuss “a broad range of in­dus­try spe­cific top­ics which the AFTA mem­ber­ship have been feed­ing back to us as the most rel­e­vant in the cur­rent eco­nomic cli­mate and op­er­at­ing en­vi­ron­ment”.

At­ten­dees will hear from the AFTA man­age­ment team on mat­ters re­lated to the com­pli­ance and op­er­a­tions of ATAS, in­clud­ing the new Ad­ver­tis­ing Guide­lines and how it ap­plies to ATAS ac­cred­ited en­ti­ties.

Pre­sen­ta­tions will cover find­ings from the lat­est con­sumer re­search on the suc­cess of the ATAS tele­vi­sion com­mer­cials, is­sues that AFTA is ad­dress­ing at both State and Fed­eral Govern­ment lev­els on be­half of in­dus­try, and in­sights on work­force and skills de­vel­op­ment ini­tia­tives for the travel in­dus­try.

AFTA will be joined by spe­cial guest speaker and Chief Econ­o­mist of the St Ge­orge Bank, Besa Deda who will dis­cuss the “Ups, Downs and Round­abouts for Aus­tralia’s Econ­omy in 2020”.
