NEW re­search from travel in­dus­try trend anal­y­sis firm For­ward­Keys has re­vealed the im­pact of the coro­n­avirus travel set­back spread­ing be­yond China, with flight book­ings from other parts of the Asia Pa­cific re­gion see­ing a 10.5% slow­down in Mar and Apr, when ex­clud­ing trips to and from China and Hong Kong.

Re­gion­ally, the set­back has hit north­east Asia hard­est, where out­bound book­ings for Mar and Apr are 17% be­hind where they were same time last year.

Book­ings from South Asia are also lag­ging 11%, book­ings from South­east Asia are back 8.1%, while those from Ocea­nia are down 3%.

Flight book­ings from China it­self have plunged a whop­ping 55.9%, drop­ping 63.2% to the Amer­i­cas, 58.3% to the rest of Asia Pa­cific, 56.1% to Africa and the Mid­dle East, and down 36.7% to Europe, the fig­ures show.
