Agent support unveiled

-

THE Federal Government has announced that eligible Australian travel agents and tour arrangement service providers with multiple shopfronts will be able to apply for one-off $10,000 funding for each of the company’s retail outlets (TD breaking news).

Importantly, the newly-unveiled support package will be in addition to support already provided to travel agents through the $258 million Consumer Travel Support Program, JobKeeper program and various business support grants.

However, eligibility criteria stipulates that to access the new tranche of funding, applicants must have already received a grant under Round One or Two of the Consumer Travel Support Program, and their outlets must continue to operate at the time of the grant application.

Federal Minister for Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said the additional funding was needed to support the battered travel sector and ensure there is enough industry support to keep up with the expected surge in demand for travel bookings.

“When Australians can travel again our travel agents will be busy people, and our Government is supporting them to be prepared to meet that demand,” Tehan said.
