Where in the world?

-

LONG known to the Aboriginal people of the area, this massive crater was only discovered by Europeans during an aerial survey of the area in 1947.

It was caused by the impact of a meteorite, thought to be travelling at speeds of 15km a second and weighing more than 50,000 tonnes when it crashed around 300,000 years ago.

It is the second largest crater in the world and measures 880m across.

Today it is protected by its national park status and travellers can walk to the top of the crater’s rim, or else take a scenic flight to check it out.

Do you know where this is?
