Window Seat

TWO Swiss artists have launched a so-called “zero star hotel” which offers guests the opportunity to ponder the lamentable state of the globe.

Guests are not expected to be able to sleep in the installation, but rather “reflect on the current world situation... staying here is a statement about the need for urgent changes in society,” said creator Frank Riklin.

His brother Patrik added that “in a nutshell, now is not the time to sleep, we have to react”.

The pop-up suite, comprising a double bed on a platform next to a petrol station in the southern village of Saillon, costs about $400 a night, and while there are no walls or ceilings, it does come with butler service offering drinks and breakfast.
