China Airlines eyes Oz

-

AS TAIWAN’S border restrictions are relaxed, the country’s state-owned flagcarrier China Airlines will look to increase the frequency of its services between Australia and Taipei for Aug and Sep, and will allow transit through its hub.

China Airlines will operate five direct flights between the two destinations per week, up from the current three, with connections to a wide range of ports beyond Taipei.

Flights from Sydney and Melbourne to TPE will be doubled from once a week to twice per week, with SYD currently served every Thu, but from Aug, will also be flown serviced on Mon.

Meanwhile, Melbourne will also receive a new Sun service in addition to its current Wed flight, while Brisbane will continue to be served weekly on Fri.

There will also be new international destinations for connection, with Melbourne passengers now able to continue on to London, Penang, and Singpaore.

Meanwhile, passengers from Sydney will be also able to fly onward to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Both segments must be on the same itinerary and the same ticket for transit through Taipei, while stopovers must also not exceed 12 hours, with cross-day transit not allowed.

Transit from and to mainland China for Australian travellers remain suspended.
