De­spite re­cent clashes over how best to par­ent their pet gold sh, Aaron and David have nally come to the con­clu­sion that although they don’t want to rush into par­ent­hood, they do even­tu­ally want kids. So they’re will­ing to start in­ves­ti­gat­ing their op­tions; mak­ing a few pre­lim­i­nary de­ci­sions, they de­cide to pur­sue sur­ro­gacy and, af­ter a dis­agree­ment over whose sperm should be used, they agree it should be Aaron’s. Un­for­tu­nately, the sup­pos­edly happy news lls Chloe (April Rose Pengilly) with in­tense dread as she’s again re­minded of the fact that she car­ries the gene for Hunt­ing­ton’s dis­ease, a se­cret she’s been hid­ing from her sib­lings for months! Faced with the aw­ful thought that Aaron (Matt Wil­son) could also be a ge­netic car­rier – and there­fore pass it on to a child he con­ceives – Chloe breaks her si­lence, re­veal­ing all to her broth­ers and beg­ging them to get tested for the gene, too.

While Mark (Scott McGre­gor) ea­gerly books in for the screen­ing, Aaron is gripped with fear and un­cer­tainty, telling a shaken David (Takaya Honda) that he’s not hav­ing the test; he’d rather not know if his life is to be ir­repara­bly al­tered! Bury­ing his head in the prover­bial sand, Aaron chan­nels his en­er­gies into in­tense gym work­outs, stub­bornly de ect­ing all ef­forts to make him see sense.

It’s not un­til Mark re­ceives his test re­sults that a sup­port­ive Aaron nds the courage to face his demons. Telling David it’s time to con­front what­ever the fu­ture holds for him, Aaron opts to have the Hunt­ing­ton’s tests. But as he and David anx­iously wait for the out­come, Aaron re­mains painfully aware that if he has the dis­ease, or car­ries it, there’s no way he can risk hav­ing a baby with David and damn­ing the child to a hor­ri­ble life!
