STAGE SET FOR SHOWDOWN
Michael and Lauren can’t believe Fen’s throwing away his legal studies for music!
Y&R’s Fen de es his parents and swaps his legal studies to follow the bright lights of his dream to make music!
Kids always end up giving their parents more grey hairs than they’d care to think about – but Lauren and Michael weren’t expecting it so early! After all, life was treating them kindly with Michael’s law practice flourishing flourishing and Lauren recently becoming a power player at Jabot Cosmetics. However, that all changed one night a few weeks ago at drinks at the Genoa City Athletic Club when Michael thought he saw their twentysomething son Fenmore! Lauren scoffed – but did a double take when the young man turned and she shrieked that it was Fen… who was supposed to be at college in Arizona studying law! Summoned to his parents’ side, Fen (Zach Tinker) was forced to confess he’d been struggling with law school for months and has now decided to drop out to become a musician! Michael (Christian LeBlanc) scoffed, assuring his son he could give him enough tuition for Fen to keep following in his footsteps – but the disinterest was clear! Assuring Lauren (Tracey Bregman) he wasn’t into drugs as she suspected, Fen explained his heart laid with music, not law. A girl he met in Arizona convinced him to sing at a local bar – and he absolutely loved the experience of playing live! Interrupting his father’s rant, Fen insisted he had a plan and a budget, and wanted to move back in with them for a while. He also hoped to get signed by the record division at Hamilton-Winters. Reminded of the years she spent singing with Danny Romalotti at Fen’s age, Lauren told her son they’d discuss his plans at length in due course – for now, she couldn’t voice the fears dredged up inside her. Music can be a very dangerous business if artists aren’t careful, and the last thing she’d want is to see Fen exploited or hurt in a bid to follow his dreams. There are other worries, too. If Fen starts associating with Hamilton-Winters, he could be entwined in Devon’s (Bryton James) current downward spiral. On the verge of a grief-induced breakdown over wife Hilary’s death, Devon recently had drugs in his apartment, which may prove tempting for a young rocker. On the bright side, being in Hamilton-Winters’ orbit could also expose Fen to fellow singer and recent Genoa City returnee Ana (Loren Lott), who may be interested in making more than beautiful music with her fellow young artist... Whatever happens to Fen next, one thing is clear: he’s not going to let his parents talk him out of rocking and rolling!
