On second thoughts...
IN RESPONSE to the Letter of the Week (TDN May 9).
This is the best letter I have read in years. I agree to everything C.H. Ainsworth of Kingscliff said.
I have to say that when I first heard where the hospital was going I was against it but upon thinking about it I realised that it is the perfect place for a hospital in Kingscliff.
The farm that everyone is saying should stay is the only farm north of Cudgen Rd to Noble Lakeside Park lake on Tweed Coast Rd on the east side. I do not believe that this farm supplied the majority of sweet potatoes.
Cudgen Rd, which leads into Turnock St, has the TAFE, the swimming pool, the library, women’s health, Meals on Wheels and Lifebridge. Why not a hospital? It is the perfect location, keeping all these community resources together.
■ There are a lot of positive reasons for the hospital to be built in Kingscliff.
■ It will create thousands of jobs to build the hospital.
■ It will create thousands of jobs once the hospital is opened.
■ We will get better roads from the highway to hospital and possibly Pottsville.
■ The local school leavers will have an opportunity to find work instead of having to move away.
■ Trades people will have work.
■ Untrained people will have
■ The retail shops will get more business.
■ The cafés will get more business.
■ Motels and caravan parks will get more business.
And much more.
The people who agree with the hospital location at Kingscliff should have their say. — L Mcinerney, Kingscliff
