Tweed shoppers spend big for good cause
TWEED residents have pledged 2,500 “virtual hugs”’ to help those affected by childhood illness as part of Coles’ fundraising campaign for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Gold Appeal.
Until June 5, shoppers were able to buy a $2 Gold Appeal donation card at Coles supermarkets in Tweed City, Tweed Heads, Casuarina, Murwillumbah and Banora Point.
The first donation cards have already made their way to Sydney Children’s Hospital where they are brightening patients’ walls.
Funds raised from the Coles campaign will go towards research, clinical care and equipment to allow children to have the best possible treatment and hospital experience.
Sydney Children’s Hospital is one of Australia’s leading centres in paediatric clinical and research excellence.
Coles State General Manager Orlando Rodriguez thanked local shoppers who have shown their support for the campaign so far.
“The virtual hugs sold at Coles supermarkets have helped to show patients and families at the Sydney Children’s Hospital that we are thinking of them in their time of need,” he said.
Every year 69,000 children from NSW are treated at Sydney Children’s Hospital.
