4 THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND...
1. Beach Rugby
BEACH rugby is set to make its Queensland debut at Kirra Beach this weekend with a brand new tournament organised by Beach Rugby Australia hitting the sands. After taking the code to beaches across Europe to grow the sport, the organisation is hoping beach rugby will take off. Matches begin today and tomorrow at 9am just to the north of the Kirra Surf Life Saving Club.
2. Boney M
SUPERSTAR and original Boney M member Maizie Williams returns to the Twin Towns stage tonight for a live concert with the full Boney M band to play a full set of disco hits.
Boney M dominated the airwaves in the 70’s and 80’s with chart toppers like Daddy Cool, Ma Baker, Rasputin and Rivers of Babylon.
Show starts at 8pm (Qld). Tickets are still available at twintowns.com.au.
3. Homeless walk
THE Australian Red Cross Tweed Youth Club are hosting a walk for the homeless Sunday morning and the community is invited to participate and show a united front to support those sleeping rough. The walk starts at Jack Evans Boat Harbour from 8.30am-2.30pm and participants will have the option to walk 2km, 4km or 6km towards The Anchorage in Tweed Heads. For info phone 0403 033 466.
4. Kingy gigs
WITH Australian music royalty (Daryl Braithwaite) riding into the Kingscliff Beach Hotel tomorrow, Kingy will be the place to be. Although tickets to the show are sold out, the beachfront precinct will be a great spot to soak up the vibes.
A good bet would be to check out Katie Who, who is playing at Brothers Cafe from 3pm. The cafe will be serving $5 tap beers from 12-3pm from the prime Marine Parade location.
