Green meanie is back on screens in time for Christ­mas

IT’S been 18 years since Dr Seuss’s fa­mous tale,

came to the big screen in the live-ac­tion fea­ture film di­rected by Ron Howard and star­ring Jim Car­rey, so there’s a whole new gen­er­a­tion who will ap­pre­ci­ate the lat­est ver­sion by Il­lu­mi­na­tion En­ter­tain­ment and Univer­sal Pic­tures.

isa3d com­puter-an­i­mated pro­duc­tion, ex­plor­ing a bit more of what makes the green and tiny-hearted Christ­mas-hat­ing vil­lain so grumpy, us­ing flash­backs of his early life to give an ex­pla­na­tion as to why he gets more ag­gra­vated around Christ­mas time.

Nar­rated by Phar­rell Wil­liams, brings the tale to life via great CGI an­i­ma­tion and the de­tail is Stars: Bene­dict Cum­ber­batch, Rashida Jones, Angela Lans­bury, Ke­nan Thomp­son, Cameron Seely, Phar­rell Wil­liams.

bril­liant. It’s a movie you could watch over and over and see some­thing dif­fer­ent each time.

The scene is set in the cyn­i­cal grump’s cave on Mt Crum­pet, rigged with in­ven­tions and con­trap­tions, are mind bog­gling.

With only his loyal dog, Max, for com­pany, the Grinch lives a soli­tary life.

But when the Whos in Whosville de­clare they are go­ing to make the fes­tive sea­son three times big­ger, the Grinch goes on a mis­sion to steal Christ­mas by pos­ing as Santa Claus on Christ­mas Eve.

There are some laugh-out-loud mo­ments in this fast-paced an­i­ma­tion with comic char­ac­ters adding fun to the story line.

You may not recog­nise him, but Bene­dict Cum­ber­batch

voices the iconic green furry crea­ture and does the role jus­tice.

This is a must-see movie for all the fam­ily this fes­tive sea­son and one that is sure to be­come a part of the Christ­mas list of movies to watch in years to come.
