Bewildering reason

Tweed Daily News - - NEWS OPINION -

MANY of us over the years have read some crazy things in newspapers, some that were totally off the planet, especially outrageous demands from tree-huggers who preach their green gospel.

But first prize for year 2018 goes to the story in the Gold Coast newspaper titled “Mayor’s batty thinking” regarding greenie Tweed Mayor Katie Milne’s mind-boggling reasons why she strongly opposes the approval of 10-storey building height limits: “Because of rising sea levels and birds, bats and other flying wildlife and insects striking the high-rise buildings.”

Many of us agree with totally bewildered Tweed councillor Warren Polglase’s statement on the same page: “It is like a kindergarten in here” – and who could not agree with Warren?

It’s about time Katie Milne stepped down from her mayoral role and concentrated on her beloved wildlife instead, that she regards as more important than the ratepayers’ issues. — Ken Wade, Tweed Heads
