CARROLL SHELBY COLLECTION ON OFFER

BONHAMS is auctioning an eclectic assortment of 24 vehicles from the private collection of the late Carroll Shelby, dating as far back as a 1927 Ford Model T.

A selection of Cobras and Mustangs showcases his extensive collaborat­ion with Ford.

Several models fettled by Shelby for the Chrysler corporatio­n are also up for grabs such as the Charger GSLH, CSX and Shelby Dakota pickup.

There's a 1969 Shelby GT 500 that he acquired from actor Jackie Cooper Jr, chassis 0001 of Shelby's own supercar built in 1999, the Shelby 1 Series and a 2011 Shelby Cobra CSX 8027 (his personal transport) as well as one of his CSX 8000-series modern Cobras.

There is also a 1935 Chrysler Airflow Sedan, believed to have been acquired from Steve McQueen, and the 1982 Dodge Shelby Charger prototype – the first collaborat­ion between Shelby and Dodge that led to the creation of the Viper.

The Concours d'Elegance Auction is set for Sunday June 3, in Greenwich, Connecticu­t.
