MARKET WATCH

VALIANT CHARGER

-

WELCOME TO MarketWatch. For several years now we’ve been doing quarterly value guides: Australian and USA muscle cars, Japanese classics, Aussie family cars, plus European and British classics.

Now that we have some great historical data, it’s time to share!

These figures are collected during the year, by our valuation expert Cliff Chambers, from actual verifiable sales – not some wild rumour or fake sale number.

This issue, we’re looking at Australian Chrysler Chargers, be they the premium race-oriented models or the more humble basic versions. Versions such as the R/T series are typically valued with our annual

MuscleCarGuide at the end of the year, while cars such as the 770 series will appear in the annual Aussie

FamilyCarValueGuide produced around July.

As a general rule, Chargers have been solid performers in the market over the last few years, with steady rises for good Condition 1 examples.

One thing worth noting is that the market has generally flattened out over the last year, and Chargers have been subject to that general trend.

Still, even base model cars are worth solid money, with good examples fetching $36,000.

Look for our huge online resource at tradeuniquecars.com.au. Go to News & Reviews and search for ‘value guides’. That should bring up Unique Cars Magazine Value Guides, which is a massive online index, along with historical prices from major local auctions. (Note: price columns are for Condition 3, 2 and 1 cars, with the latter being very good original-spec examples with no work required. I/D indicates insufficient sales data.)
