JAGUAR C-TYPE CONTINUATION

-

THE FIRST production Jaguar C-type Continuation, produced by Jaguar Classic Works in Coventry, underwent its first shakedown prior to delivery to customer number one.

Completion of this first Continuation C-type coincides with a landmark anniversary of the original disc brake equipped C-type that won a 50-lap 224-mile-long international sportscar race at the Reims Grand Prix meeting in France on June 29, 1952.

This first production C-type Continuation is finished in Pastel Green with suede green seats reflecting that of the winning car with Sir Stirling

Moss behind the wheel.

The victory at Reims was a precursor to the C-type win at the following year’s Le Mans 24 Hour, and Jaguar’s dominance of 1950s sports car racing.

Creating a C-type Continuation involves 3,000 hours of specialist construction and only a limited number will be built.

Handcrafted at Jaguar Classic Works in Coventry, all C-type Continuation models will be built to the specification of the 1953 Works C-types.

Customers have 12 exterior heritage colours to choose from including the Pastel Green, British Racing Green and Pastel

Blue with contrasting roundel, as well as being able to select their own interior specification from a range of eight leather hues.

Prior to delivery every car undergoes at least 400 kilometres of testing

David Foster, Head of Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover Classic, said: “We have combined original drawings, modern CAD techniques and 3000 hours of skill and attention to produce the first handbuilt, C-type noting a historic landmark moment for Jaguar Classic.

“Our exclusive Continuation C-types feature the technical innovations and specifications of the ultimate 1953 Le Manswinning car, including the innovative Dunlop disc brake set-up that was victorious in Reims in 1952.

"Each C-type offers an authentic driving experience for customers, even the car’s distinctive starting procedure, that our team was determined to get exactly right.”

The Continuation models are FIA-approved and eligible to participate in all FIA Historic events, including the Jaguar Classic Challenge, which takes place at a variety of different racetracks including Le Mans and Silverstone.
