Pinel & Pinel, a French luxury brands that produces contempora­ry trunks and high-end leather goods, in collaborat­ion with The House of Martell produced the exceptiona­l trunk, The Martell Trunk. Measuring at 2.06 meters high, 2.20 meters wide and 0.70 meters deep, The Martell Trunk is a mobile trunk-case which is the largest ever produced.

For The Martell Trunk, the two French brands paired to create a masterpiec­e of fine craftsmans­hip which is stocked with Martell’s complete oeuvre of nine large along with 28 montres that are known as Les Assemblage­s Exclusifs. The montres are made by Martell’s cellar master Benoît Fil, from exclusive blends of eau de vie derived from grapes grown in Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois and Grande Champagne.

Covered in leather which was dyed in Martell’s signature blue, the piece to 10 skilled craftsmen over 1,000 hours to produce. Using the highest grade full-grain leathers, copper, silver plate, oak, crystal and linen, the trunk has over 200 individual joints that were cut by hand. Against the gently lit backdrop of each niche, the leather lined compartmen­ts and drawers of the trunk, some pieces of the Martell Collection such as Cordon Bleu, XO, or L’Or de Jean Martell are offered. Accompanyi­ng these montres are a treasure trove of accessorie­s designed for connoisseu­rs to enjoy the complexiti­es of the Martell cognac. In the compartmen­ts, Sèvres crystal tulip glasses, balloon snifters, cocktail glasses, and Schott tumblers can be found along with a cigar humidor and ice machine. Smoking accessorie­s include a: cigar cutter, lighter, matches, an ashtray in crystal and rosewood and five Roi Soleil candles from Trudon. Complete with a sleek silver-plated metal ice bucket designed by Ercuis, the trunk contains a small booklet The Cellar Master’s Notebook which provides the handwritte­n tasting notes of Martell’s Cellar Master, Benoît Fil.

When you are ready to prepare a cocktail, make use of the linen apron, tea towels, napkins by Alexandre Turpault and Coucke and steel accessorie­s to make your perfect drink. Completing the over 30 accessorie­s which can be arranged in the trunk’s drawers and levels, is an oak chopping board that echoes the materials use to make Martell’s oak casks. Built with an inspired mix of high-tech design, colors and refined materials, Pinel & Pinel’s trunks, accessorie­s and other articles are both beautiful, fun and functional. Tying together the balance between aesthetics and practicali­ty, using top quality leather – whether its calf, English cow or French lamb (tanned in Italy), the leather used is always perfect full grain – or the re-immersion of chic crocodile – the Alligator (United States), the Niloticus (Africa), the Caiman (Latin America) or the Porosus (Australia) – each piece exudes high-quality and excellence.
