The ethos was simple but remained the same over the years with being close to the iconic steel jumbo along with the classic blue dial. It has stayed faithful to the original Gérald Genta masterpiece no doubt and that amalgamation of the classic look being mixed with a modern feel led to it being an instant hit.

So much so that it is one of the most popular celebrity watches and the waiting list runs into years with supply unable to meet demand. Apparently the waiting list is nearly 10 years at authorized dealerships and new models only made its way into certain collector hands. Patek Philippe only made a limited number of these watches in stainless-steel in the first place hence the rarity.

Which means this stainless-steel luxury sports watch, costing $30,000, currently trades in the pre-owned market at three times its list price. Stopping production of this blue-dial, steel Nautilus will only increase its collector value further and make it an even more coveted watch. Potential buyers who have been waiting for years and currently have not received a date might have to give up hopes of sporting one on their wrist. Do note that you can still buy the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1R-001 rose gold version but I guess you, just like us, want the iconic steel model, to which we say, form an orderly queue...
