Urban Cyclist - - Gear What's New -

This spring saw Sanitov roll out a duo of new bikes: an e-cargo bike (‘movE’) and the aesthetically pleasing singlespeed pictured known as ‘speedD’ (pictured left). For cargo purists, purportedly the moveE’s (£2,695) design follows ‘Danish design principles of functionality and minimalism but also takes inspiration from a classic Chinese load-bike predating the Cultural Revolution’. That rather elaborate press release also highlights an optional GPS tracker, which you can monitor from an app if the worst happens and some nefarious individual rides off with your movE. Of greater simplicity but perhaps of more appeal to the urban masses is the speeD (£785). The frame’s constructed from high-quality chromoly steel, making ‘for a stylish but sturdy ride’. The standout feature is that attractive ash rear carrier – designed to accommodate loads, albeit doubling as a mudguard. The 2017 version doesn’t feature that GPS chip, but Sanitov is planning to slip it into the 2018 model. www. sani
