The Monaco runs fatter tyres and slacker angles to handle bad roads. It isn’t a bike for slaloming through traffic but its stability is rock solid. The brakes are good but the drivetrain lets it down. The Andel chainset runs on a heavy, square taper BB and Shimano’s Alfine 11 hub shifts up sweetly but back down terribly. It’s also responsible for much of the 13.2kg heft which hinders on hills. The 8-speed Alfine is so much better.
