Ocean Kitchen, Six Senses Zil Pasyon, The Seychelles

- By Helen Hayes

The Six Senses Zil Pasyon opened on the impossibly beautiful Félicité Island in The Seychelles on 1 October 2016, and we were very lucky to visit it while on a yacht charter with Sunsail. We booked lunch at Ocean Kitchen, the meat-free restaurant and one of several options on the island, located so close to the idyllic turquoise water you could see some of the colourful fish swimming off the shore. The menu consists of freshly caught seafood and organic ingredients, including fruit and vegies grown in the resort’s own gardens as well as from local farmers around The Seychelles. We sat down to a feast including entrees of refreshing carrot and orange gazpacho with crudités, palm heart and avocado salad, creole-style octopus salad and tuna ceviche with avocado, with mains of prawn and coriander sugarcane skewer, mache and bigarade (similar to limes), a creole vegetable curry and grilled red snapper – a Seychellois speciality – in banana leaf with sautéed greens and cassava fricassee.

The meal, like the setting and the absolutely stunning 15 villas dotted amongst the lush vegetation on the island, ensures we all head back to the yacht planning to return to this island paradise. sixsenses.com
