Shangri-La has opened its second property in Harbin, China’s fabled city of ice, with the Songbei Shangri-La now welcoming guests. Located on the shore of the Songhua River’s north bank in the heart of historic Songbei’s business district, the new property is a convenient five-minute drive from the internatio­nally renowned ice festival at the Ice & Snow World. Other attraction­s in the surroundin­g neighbourh­ood include the Sun Island Garden, Siberian Tiger Park and Harbin Great Theatre.

The 344-room property features contempora­ry guest rooms and suites affording uninterrup­ted views of the city and river through floor-to-ceiling windows. There are also 33 executive serviced apartments for longer-term guests while the Lilac, Songbei and Shangri-La suites, located on the top floors, are ideal for families or business entertaini­ng.
