Hands on journeys

-

The founder of Hands On Journeys, Simla Sooboodoo, set up the business to empower locals in poor communities. The aim of the company is to build a tribe of travellers who want to help communities in need, which gives hope and also creates long term sustainability. Hands On Journeys hires locals to complete projects, with travellers working alongside them. Tourists can also pass on skills they know to locals, which will enable them to create an income stream from that skill. The program has already had an impact on communities in India, building toilets in Delhi slums. In Vietnam, water filters have been provided and locals in a boating village have been able to make money making jewellery they created with help from travellers on Hands On Journeys trips. In Cambodia, a village was brought back to life and given a purpose. handsonjourneys.com
