WALK AND WRITE IN SCOTLAND

- Utracks.com

The windswept highlands and lochs of Scotland’s West Highland Way have provided the setting for many iconic films such as Braveheart, Trainspotting and Rob Roy and the region is about to inspire a whole new generation of creative minds in 2018. Stretching through the southwestern Scottish Highlands, the West Highland Way is one of the most popular long distance trails in the British Isles. UTracks has partnered with journalist, author and travel writer Stephanie Dale to create a 10-day

Walk & Write itinerary along the Way. The itinerary will start at the village of Milngavie, just outside Glasgow and finish at Fort William, at the foot of Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis. Walkers will pass through the landscapes of Glen Coe, backdrop to the Harry Potter and Braveheart movies and the Outlander TV series, and along the shore of Lock Lomond, past the hideout of outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor. The tour also includes structured writing workshops with Stephanie Dale. Dale describes the 10-day itinerary as “an adventure writing experience through some of Scotland’s most iconic natural, cultural and historical landmarks”. And yes, “there will be whisky tasting”. The tour will run from 18 to 27 June, 2018.
