1.34 million Aussies set sail in 2017, with that number sure to rise in 2018. Globally, 28 million people are expected to sail the high seas or rivers of the world this year, and by 2028, that number is projected to be 40 million. Ship builders can hardly keep up with demand, with 108 ships now under construction, 30 of which are expedition ships to take cruisers exploring far-flung destinations and places that the huge ships cannot access.
