THE GHAN CELEBRATES 90 YEARS

In 2019 it will be 90 years since The Ghan embarked on its inaugural journey from Adelaide to Darwin, now considered one of the world’s best train journeys. In celebration passengers are invited to the birthday party, featuring a dedicated anniversary train, 90 days of celebrations and six signature packages. The 90th Anniversary Train will depart Adelaide for Darwin on 4 August 2019 – 90 years to the day since the original ‘Afghan Express’ left for Alice Springs. This one-off journey will include on-train experiences and off-train excursions, plus an outback birthday party. More Platinum Service cabins have also been introduced, allowing more guests to travel in premium accommodation. Great Southern Rail has also introduced a new train, Great Southern, that will travel between Adelaide and Brisbane on a two-night, three-day journey, starting in December 2019. greatsouthernrail.com.au/ghan90
