THE CALILE

- By Danielle Lancaster

The Calile, Brisbane’s highly anticipated new hotel, has opened its doors and you will not be disappointed. Located in James Street, The Valley, a street growing its reputation as one of Brisbane’s most exclusive shopping and dining precincts, it offers underrated luxury with a strong eco statement. The 175-room architecturally designed hotel draws on the Queensland climate and tropical surrounds to deliver a luxury encounter in an urban setting. While all amenities and leisure facilities provided are ones you would expect, it’s the added touches of class that set the Calile apart from the other kids on the block in Brisbane. There are nine suites and two premium suites. Covered

breezeways link all rooms with open-air spaces. Each level features a natural freshwater fountain and lush green tropical foliage. The stylish décor is planned seamlessly and an obvious eco-statement from the mini-bar to the bathroom and beyond. There is a no straw policy in both the funky lobby bar – with its hand-carved pink marble feature bar – and the award-winning restaurant, Hellenika – just voted Queensland’s best restaurant. Gold Coast foodies may know this name renowned for their authentic Greek

cuisine satisfying diners for over eight years. The Brisbane venue offers the same menu with alfresco dining on the pool terrace. Within 10-minutes of the hotel you are in the city, South Bank with its many precincts and attractions such as GOMA, while the pretty New Farm Park and the Brisbane Powerhouse, a treasure of Brisbane with acts, exhibitions and various performances are literally down the road, plus you are only a short 20-minute drive to Brisbane airport.
