MONTE-CARLO PIROUETTES INTO MELBOURNE
The troupe of Monaco’s prestigious Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo will visit Australia to perform an innovative version of Swan Lake, ‘LAC’, choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot. The season will be a highlight of Australia Ballet’s 2019 season, running in Melbourne from 27 June to 6 July 2019, presenting a sinister twist on the Swan Lake story. Jean-Christophe Maillot, choreographer director of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo has created a blend of neo-classical ballet and modern dance with ‘LAC’ signalling its departure from tradition. On tour for more than 200 days a year, the Ballets de Monte-Carlo is a major culture ambassador for the Principality of Monaco.
