Community and environmental tourism projects
Born to be wild
From July to September this year, over a thousand people will journey across Europe and Asia in scrapyard-bought cars of under 1000cc – all for a good cause. The annual Mongol Rally, organised by the Adventurists, will see hundreds of teams make their way from the UK to the finish line of Ulan-Ude, Russia with no set route and no guides. Teams are required to raise at least £1000 (about A$1831) to be donated to charities. Half of the funds raised goes towards Cool Earth, working towards halting the destruction of rainforests around the world. The rest of the raised monies are donated to a charity of each team’s choosing.
