Statue of Liberty Museum opens
On New York’s Liberty Island, the Statue of Liberty Museum has recently opened, featuring the statue’s original torch. The museum will allow visitors to Liberty Island to undertake a full museum experience, learning more about Lady Liberty. The new space features three gallery spaces, culminating in an up-close view of Liberty’s original torch (pictured), held high for nearly 100 years and rescued from the elements and replaced in 1986. Access to the museum is free with the purchase of a Statue Cruises ferry ticket to Liberty and Ellis Islands.
