Carnival ship Brisbane bound

From 2020, Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Spirit will home port in Brisbane, upgrading its red funnel and revamping its waterslide and pub. In a nod to Queensland’s love of rugby league, Carnival’s signature red funnel will switch to a Queensland ‘maroon’ hue, towering at 53 metres above the water line. The ship’s RedFrog Pub will also be revamped and rechristened the Cane Toad Pub, featuring crowd-pleasing beers on tap such as Milton Mangos, Great Northerns and Carnival’s own Cane Toad lager. Seven tonnes of sand will be transported onto Carnival Spirit to create an adults-only, artificial lagoon named ‘New Southbank’.
