Onsen gastronomy tours
Walk Japan has introduced a series of tours that will immerse travellers in Japanese culture, with a focus on onsen hot springs and the gastronomy of Japan. The leading small-tour company was invited by the Onsen Gastronomy Tourism Association to develop the new itineraries. Guests can join the Oita and Kumamoto in Kyushu walk (12 to 26 November, 2019) in Japan’s most westerly main island; and the Gifu and Nagano in Honshu (16 to 20 October, 2019), central Japan walk. Each tour lasts up to five days through easy terrain, with average daily walking distances of around six to eight kilometres. Guests stay at local inns and enjoy Japanese cuisine.
