Intrepid Travel, one of Intreprid Group’s tour operating brands alongside Peregrine Adventures and Urban Adventures, recently released its second annual Adventure Travel Index which revealed that Morocco had moved up one spot to be the number four in the Top 20 Adventure Travel destinations of 2018, recording a 46 per cent increase of travellers on their tours. In the solo travel category, the former French colony of Morocco was also ranked as the third most popular destination for solo travellers, behind Vietnam in the number one spot and India in second position. For the best cultural experiences in Morocco, experts recommend a visit to the old town of the capital, Rabat; Marrakesh and its central square of Djemma El-Fna and the El Badi Palace; the blue buildings of Chefchaouen; exploring the Fes el Bali medina in the former capital Fez; and a visit to Hasan II Mosque in Casablanca (as illustrated on this page and on our front cover).
