InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu » France
After a four-year restoration the InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu is now open. Restorations to this classic property represent the largest private transformation of a historic monument carried out in France to date. The new InterContinental hotel encompasses the former Grand Hôtel Dieu which was redesigned by renowned interior designer, Jean-Philippe Nuel. Design touches tap into Lyon’s history as the former capital of the European silk industry. Throughout the rooms and public areas are custom silk screen panels, cushions and soft furnishings designed by prestigious Lyonnais silk creator, Verel de Belval, a subsidiary of the Hermès group. The building served as the city’s hospital for 800 years and features stone floors, plastered walls and timber ceilings. A highlight is the 32-metre high ceiling in the Le Dôme Bar – originally a chapel. Rates start from $455 per room, per night.
